ITINERARY

The pottery class will take place in the morning. Please note that the piece made needs at least three days to dry and fire if the passenger wishes to take the finished piece with them.

Before touring the city, we will learn the secrets of pottery making by visiting the workshop of Mr. Iván Encalada, a well-known potter from Cuenca who will welcome us into his colonial-style home filled with courtyards, backyards, and vegetable gardens. For an hour, he will teach us basic techniques for shaping clay and making decorative pieces that vary according to the individual tastes and interests of the participants.

After this experience, the tour of the beautiful city of Cuenca includes places such as the picturesque and traditional Barrio de San Sebastián, the Museum of Modern Art, Calderón Park (central park), La Plaza de las Flores, La Catedral del Sagrario (Old Cathedral), and La Catedral Inmaculada Concepción (New Cathedral), considered the largest in Latin America. Also included is a visit to a famous Toquilla Straw Hat Factory, where you can see how the finest hats are made.

We will visit Rotary Square, famous for its various handicrafts such as basketry, wooden furniture, and ceramics (the famous ceramics made using the ancestral technique of Jatumpamba). This is a place where interaction and conversation set the pace of life, where bargaining is more about dialogue, complicity, and friendship than about getting a lower price. At the end of the tour, passengers will be transferred to their hotel.
