Departure from the Quito airport is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (subject to change). A 30-minute flight over the Andes Mountains takes you to a bustling oil town called Coca, located in the Amazon basin. After a quick lunch at Sacha's private home, you will head to the town's docks where you will board Sacha's private canoes for a 2-hour trip downriver to Sacha's Lodges property. A 30-minute hike through the rainforest will take you to Pilchicocha Lake. At this point, native workers will meet you to paddle across the lake to your final destination. Arrival at Sacha Lodge is estimated around 15:30 or 16:00 (subject to change).
Imagine crossing the rainforest via a 30-meter (94-foot) high bridge over the treetops. At 275 meters (940 feet) long and fixed to the ground by three metal towers, it offers an amazing opportunity to spot dozens of animals and epiphytes rarely seen from the ground. You'll even be able to spot troops of monkeys lurking through the forest canopy. And if you don't see them, you will almost certainly hear them. Howler monkeys will roar through the setting sun like true kings of the jungle.
You will feel like you are on top of the world in our 135 feet (43 meters) high observation tower. A platform built on the highest branches of a giant Ceibo tree. From here, you will be able to appreciate a magnificent panoramic view of the forest. The more than 500 species of birds recorded in the area, including toucans and rainbow-colored parrots, become easy to spot. Climb the crows' nest to experience a 360-degree view, just like the captain of the Amazon.
