Guamote enjoys a pleasant climate during most of the year, with average temperatures ranging between 15°C and 22°C. To enjoy its rural charm and festivities, it is recommended to visit between June and September.

From Quito, you can get to Guamote by bus, which is a comfortable and economical option. Taking a bus from Terminal Terrestre Quitumbe to Guamote is an alternative. Once in Guamote, you can move around on foot to explore the town and its surroundings, but you can also use local cabs or ask for information at your place of accommodation about available transportation services.

HIKE ALAUSÍ - CONDOR

Experience the thrill of walking from the Alausí train station to Nizag, accompanied by a local guide from Nizag. Enjoy cultural anecdotes and local legends as you advance along the train tracks, staying at an altitude of approximately 2300 meters above sea level. After about 2 hours, you arrive at the condor area, where you find the imposing metal sculpture of the Puñana Condor. The hike continues to Nizag, where you enjoy a local lunch and explore women's handicraft projects using the Cabuya plant. The journey culminates at the Tolte viewpoint, overlooking the Devil's Nose mountain.

Begin your experience at the Inti Sisa Community Tourism Center in Guamote, where you will explore life in small mountain communities surrounding the city. You will visit the Inti Sisa educational center, with a kindergarten, sewing workshop and computer class. Afterwards, enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains, visit an elementary school, meet traditional weavers and explore an authentic Andean house. The day culminates with a return to Guamote, offering the option of walking for those who wish to do so.

OZOGOCHE FULL DAY

Explore the authentic indigenous community of Ozogoche on a 55 km journey from the Inti Sisa Community Tourism Center. Accompanied by local guides, you will hike adventure trails, cross rivers and climb 200 m to the lookout point to enjoy views of more than 300 lakes in Sangay National Park. Discover local traditions and legends, including the mysterious phenomenon of migratory birds diving into the lakes in August. After the hike, enjoy a lunch of fresh trout before returning to Guamote.
