Guamote enjoys a pleasant climate for most of the year, with average temperatures ranging between 15°C and 22°C. To enjoy its rural charm and festivities, it is recommended to visit between June and September.

HIKE ALAUSÍ - CONDOR

Experience the thrill of walking from the Alausí train station to Nizag, accompanied by a local guide from Nizag. Enjoy cultural anecdotes and local legends as you make your way along the train tracks, staying at an altitude of approximately 2,300 meters above sea level. After about 2 hours, you will arrive at the condor area, where you will find the imposing metal sculpture of the Puñana Condor. The walk continues to Nizag, where you will enjoy a local lunch and explore craft projects by women who use the Cabuya plant. The day ends at the Tolte viewpoint, with views of the Nariz del Diablo mountain.

Begin your experience at the Inti Sisa Community Tourism Center in Guamote, where you will explore life in small mountain communities surrounding the town. You will visit the Inti Sisa educational center, which has a kindergarten, sewing workshop, and computer class. Afterward, enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains, visit an elementary school, meet traditional weavers, and explore an authentic Andean home. The day ends with a return to Guamote, offering the option of walking back for those who wish to do so.

OZOGOCHE FULL DAY

Explore the authentic indigenous community of Ozogoche on a 55-kilometer trip from the Inti Sisa Community Tourism Center. Accompanied by local guides, you will walk along adventure trails, cross rivers, and climb 200 meters to the viewpoint to enjoy views of more than 300 lakes in Sangay National Park. Discover local traditions and legends, including the mysterious phenomenon of migratory birds diving into the lakes in August. After the hike, enjoy a lunch of fresh trout before returning to Guamote.
