The excursion begins with a combined bus, train and bus trip to Machu Picchu, Peru's most important attraction. This impressive and colossal citadel was discovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham, after being hidden for 400 years between the mountains and the tropical jungle 1.

Machu Picchu, a ceremonial and astronomical observation center, was the private refuge of the Inca Pachacutec. It consists of two large areas, one agricultural and the other urban, where temples, squares and royal mausoleums built with exquisite perfection stand out.

Our last visit will be to Las Grietas, a place where the landscape is formed by interesting lava figures that form two gigantic walls crossed by an arm of brackish water that mixes with the sea water. This is a good place for swimming and snorkeling due to the transparency of its waters. Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch.

After lunch, we will visit Tortuga Bay Beach, one of the longest white sand beaches and nesting site of the black turtle. Here you will be able to observe marine iguanas, sharks and sea turtles. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel.

During this day, we will visit very popular and valued sites by visitors. First, we will visit Las Tintoreras, a small islet located less than five minutes from the town. In this place, as a result of volcanic activity, cracks have formed where blue sharks come to rest and are easily visible from a distance. In addition, in this place you can observe different types of lava, marine iguanas, birds such as the famous blue-footed booby, sea lions, sea turtles, varieties of fish and, sometimes, giant rays and manta rays.

Afterwards, we will head to the Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center, where you will be able to observe two of the five subspecies of giant tortoises that are under the care of park rangers. This center was created to protect the turtles in their first years of life, since in their natural environment they face dangers such as predation of their eggs by introduced animals such as pigs and donkeys, as well as competition for food. The eggs are collected at the breeding center, where they are incubated. After five years, when they reach the appropriate size to survive in their natural environment, they are released.
