ITINERARY

1

Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve

Pululahua is an extinct but active volcano and one of only two inhabited craters in the world, as well as being the third largest with a diameter of 12 km. Every afternoon, moisture-laden clouds roll in from the coast and cover the life that exists in this caldera with a white blanket. This area is the only protected zone in the country that has the status of "Geobotanical Reserve," recognized for its geological condition and great biological diversity, both in fauna and flora.

2

Intiñán Interactive Museum

Inti ñan derives from the Quechua words Inti (sun) and Ñan (path), meaning that Intiñan translates as "Path of the Sun." At the Intiñan Museum, you can explore the history of ancient peoples, learn about their homes and ways of life, and discover sundials. You can also interactively conduct various experiments at latitude 0.

3

City Halfway Around the World

The Middle of the World City is a cultural complex that houses the Middle of the World monument. Its purpose is to highlight the exact location of the equator, from which the country takes its name, and also to highlight the 18th-century Franco-Spanish geodesic mission that determined the approximate site through which the equatorial line passes. In addition, the complex includes the Ethnographic Museum on the country's indigenous cultures, four pavilions with permanent exhibitions, a Planetarium, a miniature model of colonial Quito, craft shops, and restaurants serving typical food.
