The origins of Hacienda la Compañía de Jesús date back to the time of the Jesuits who arrived in Ecuador and built it. After the Jesuits were expelled by King Charles I from all Spanish lands where they were present, the house was purchased in 1767 by the family of the current owners. Today, it is in its sixth generation. Opposite the chapel is the old barn, a building that now houses a spectacular exhibition of the 70 varieties of roses produced at the Hacienda de la Compañía de Jesús. The bright colors of the roses combined with the rural architectural decoration create a truly attractive scene. Ecuador is privileged to have the best quality roses in the world, as it is located on the equator, in the middle of the world, with 12 hours of daylight and a similar climate throughout the year, as well as the perfect humidity and altitude for growing roses.
The city of Otavalo has been declared the "intercultural capital of Ecuador" because it is a city with enormous potential in several aspects, possessing scenic charm, cultural richness, history, and commercial development. This town is mainly known for its colorful indigenous market, the largest in Latin America.
The Peguche waterfall has always been sacred to the Otavalo people and surrounding villages. To reach the waterfall, you must take a short walk through the forest.
The city of Cotacachi is located on the slopes of the volcano of the same name, in the northern part of the country. Its inhabitants are engaged in the leather industry (manufacturing and marketing).
At the end of the tour, passengers will be transferred to their hotel.
