It is located just 40 kilometers off the coast of Puerto López and is part of Machalilla National Park. It is a very important tourist destination as it is home and refuge to a wide variety of seabirds such as blue-footed, red-footed, and masked boobies, frigatebirds, pelicans, tropical birds, albatrosses, and sea lions. It is also an ideal place for activities such as diving and snorkeling, as it is home to the last remaining coral reefs on the Ecuadorian coast. If you have the opportunity to visit between June and September, you can also go whale watching.
