The city of Otavalo has been declared "intercultural capital of Ecuador" for being a city with enormous potential in several aspects, possessing a charming landscape, cultural richness, history and commercial development. This town is mainly known for its colorful indigenous market, the largest in Latin America.
The Andean Instruments workshop offers the opportunity to visualize the manufacture of typical Andean string, wind and percussion instruments, as well as to visit a small museum with all the instruments, indicating the area of origin of each one.
The Peguche waterfall has always been a sacred place for the Otavalos and surrounding villages. Here some indigenous rituals of purification are performed with its crystalline waters. To reach the waterfall you must take a short walk through the forest, along a well marked trail.
The city of Cotacachi is located on the slopes of the volcano of the same name, where its inhabitants are engaged in the leather industry (processing and marketing), has dozens of shops offering handicrafts, clothing and shoes of the highest quality leather. Lunch is scheduled in the city.
Cuicocha is a lagoon located in a volcanic caldera at the foot of the Cotacachi volcano in the Western Cordillera of the Ecuadorian Andes and is part of the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve. Inside the Cuicocha lagoon there are four lava domes that form two forest-covered islets: the smaller one called Yerovi, and the larger one, Teodoro Wolf, in honor of the German scholar and discoverer.
